Celtics learning, laying down not an option

The reality of what this season is all about is clear. It isn't about winning banner 18, it isn't about winning the Atlantic. It's all about building a culture, it's not tanking, or even a full rebuild. It's Brad Stevens getting comfortable, players getting comfortable with Stevens as well. The 0-5 West Coast trip was a learning expierence.

“You know what, it’s not real adversity,” Stevens said. “When things aren’t going your way, when you lose a couple games, it’s not real adversity. The way that you should respond is that you’re fortunate to do this job. You’re going to go after it and you’re going to do the very best you can. We’re not getting what we want, and I’m sick about that. But at the end of the day, laying down is not an option. Doing things and continuing to go after it every day is what you do when things get tough.”

Brad Stevens gets it, and despite the big losing streak of 8. He still has this team in almost every game, and they've won 13 games already, without Rondo in any game. Stevens knows how to talk with his guys. The Celtics return home from the west coast battered and beaten after a rough five-game trip that featured four of the top five teams in the Western Conference. Boston in some ways won on this trip. The damn moral victories..

Bayless joined this team on this trip, and I think he's been a nice steady player for this team. He's had a two solid games on this trip, against the Clippers and Blazers. I think he's the key to this bench once Rondo returns.

I like Brad Stevens more and more as the time goes by.
I like the culture that he's building in Boston.
