Maybe the effort surfaced again because of the man on the other teams bench. The Celtics were dismantled the night before in Denver, and the Celtics tough, give it your all team mantra was out the door. Before tip-off Brad Stevens always talks with Mike Gorman, Brad expressed a greater sense of urgency from his club, and even if they didn't win the game. He wanted max effort, and that's what he got.
The Celtics have lost six straight and nine of their last 10 games. This stretch of games doesn't get any easier. The Celtics still have the Warriors and Blazers. Plus when they return home they'll see the Rockets. The Celtics have played almost playoff team in the span of two weeks. The fact that the C's responded like they did Wednesday. To me that's encouraging because it suggests that this team genuinely wants to play hard for Stevens. The Celtics still remain in the playoff hunt in the east. The Celtics are dangerous considering Rondo's return, and where they are as a team.
I still feel like this team will look back at the close games at home against the Pelicans and Hawks. Winning games can swing momentum, and that may have happened. If I have seen one thing from this team. They won't look back, they'll keep moving along. At least some of the tougher games are out of the way. The Celtics don't care who they play, they want to win every single night regardless of the talent on the other team. They proved that when they beat Miami, and they proved that to other teams this season. The effort was nice to see against the Clippers, it may have turned them around.
