The talkin' box score: New York Knicks - Boston Celtics 103-102

Second game of the year is another loss, but this time we didn't go down without a fight, so I think we can take something good out of this.

First of all, we didn't get outrebounded this time!! And that's some news for us.

After his pretty good outing in the first game, Sullinger gained a starting spot at Center. The minutes at the 5 position were equally divided among Sully, Humphries and rookie Faverani.

Sully backed up his solid performance of Monday night with another good rebounding night, but overall, it wasn't a very good night for him. That said, Sullinger himself admitted he is out of shape and is working hard to go back to where he was before the injury, so I can see him being still tired from last game. Humprhies had a better game compared to his first outing; his shooting percentage was higher and the turnovers were down, but his rebounding still leaves me a little worried.

The prize for best center of the night goes to.. Vitor Faverani. The Rookie center was a nice surprise in yesterday game. He was the rebounding leader tied with Sully, his shooting percentage was great, and he played 20 minutes with just one foul, which is pretty impressive considering he's a rookie. I agree that during the preseason there's not as much physical contact as during the regular season, but still.

It was an up and down night for our shooting guards. Courtney Lee confirmed his cold start while Bradley was back on track with 5for9 and 2for3 from the 3point line. Yeah, I included him among the shooting guards because that's what he is to me.

Wallace struggled a little bit more with his shot, but he's still a really valuable asset coming off the bench.

Talking about coming off the bench, I expect a bigger contribution from Jeff Green. He had more personal foul than rebounds, and I expect him to be a bigger threat as a scorer. Hell, some of the media guy are even try to say he's the leader of the team!! He has to be the dominant player we had the chance to see last year during certain games, but he has to be it night in and night out, even while coming off the bench or playing off the ball.

At the forward position it was a tough night for Bass, but he racked up some assist, so I suppose that he was able to understand that, and he tried to help the team in some way.

It was a very difficult night for Kelly Olynyk, but I'm not going to be hard on him. The step between summer league is a high one, and he had a plantar fasciitis problem this summer that forced him to rest for a while. He's going to need every single minute he will have the chance to play in order to get adjusted to this new world which is the NBA.

And now, let's write a couple of lines about what has been the greatest surprise of the night: Phil Pressey. I mean, I had to double check the numbers: 13 points with a shooting percentage of 80% and 7 assist. He even made up for the turnovers he had with a couple of steals. And this, while leading our comeback. I can only guess that the time he's spending with Rondo is doing him pretty good!! I know his stat like won't be like this every night, but the fact that the guy is already showing some flashes of talent is good news for our point-guardless team.

That said, it was nice to see we had three times the fast break points than New York. We are a young team, with an average age of 26, and we have to take advantage of this, running the floor and play the scrappy basketball style that Stevens like; and this must happen on both ends of the floor, we can't have the opposite team shooting 52%.

We still have a lot of things to improve, and it has to start tonight against the Phillies. Losing is hard, and even more so on a young, new team. Our group of guys looks pretty excited. Winning can help bringing them close and building confidence. Time to get a win!!

Yeah, I think we should really start worrying about that
