As if we needed another rumor this summer. This possible trade rumor would be the nail in the coffin of this era, and a longer rebuild then we all want. Rondo is 27, and he will be turning 28 after the All-Star break next season. Danny's rebuild as it stands can't last long when you think of Rondo. Yes he's coming off a major surgery. But he's entering his prime, and hopefully Danny doesn't waste much time fiddling with this team. If I had to guess. I would have to say we have about a 6 year window of Rondo being a top tier point guard. Rondo has a lot to prove. Many have already written him off. He's got to show many that he's capable of making others better who are not the big three.
"The Mavericks are engaging in trade talks involving Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, sources tell DallasBasketball.com. Meanwhile, Dallas has taken a position on Chris Paul and is also investigating bids on point guards Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings – and we’ve got the scoop on what’s happening with all four."
I will say this. When Danny was asked about a possible trade on draft night of night he declared Rondo as untouchable at that moment. The team could very well change before the start of the season. The Celtics may earn a trade exception that will allow the Celtics to sign a possible free agent in a sign-and-trade. I won't name names, but if Danny is committed to Rondo. I think will see more changes with the roster.
Even after ACL tear, Boston asking a lot for Rondo. Yet as we discussed Friday AM on @MikeAndMike, teams out there DO think Rondo next to go
