Rumor: Celtics, and Dallas talking Rondo trade

Posted by shawn cassidy on June 29, 2013 at 2:50 PM

As if we needed another rumor this summer. This possible trade rumor would be the nail in the coffin of this era, and a longer rebuild then we all want. Rondo is 27, and he will be turning 28 after the All-Star break next season. Danny's rebuild as it stands can't last long when you think of Rondo. Yes he's coming off a major surgery. But he's entering his prime, and hopefully Danny doesn't waste much time fiddling with this team. If I had to guess. I would have to say we have about a 6 year window of Rondo being a top tier point guard. Rondo has a lot to prove. Many have already written him off. He's got to show many that he's capable of making others better who are not the big three.

DallasBasketball.com (note you have to be an insider to read more)

"The Mavericks are engaging in trade talks involving Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, sources tell DallasBasketball.com. Meanwhile, Dallas has taken a position on Chris Paul and is also investigating bids on point guards Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings – and we’ve got the scoop on what’s happening with all four."

I will say this. When Danny was asked about a possible trade on draft night of night he declared Rondo as untouchable at that moment. The team could very well change before the start of the season. The Celtics may earn a trade exception that will allow the Celtics to sign a possible free agent in a sign-and-trade. I won't name names, but if Danny is committed to Rondo. I think will see more changes with the roster.

Even after ACL tear, Boston asking a lot for Rondo. Yet as we discussed Friday AM on @MikeAndMike, teams out there DO think Rondo next to go

We should know soon. Scal is being interviewed for a coaching job by Golden State. Why aren't we talking to him?

Scal should have an interview with Ainge. Rondo will not be traded. For many reasons.

tell me the reasons, Franklin - I want to hear them! I hope you are right, but Danny should put an end to this - stop all the constant speculation by making a darn commitment. NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LOOK AT EVERY OFFER.

Its not everyday u get a top five point. Rondo has two years left on his cheap contract. Its a two year plan for Ainge. If the team isn't built to benefit Rondo and the Celtics by then. He will move on without Rondo. Rondos value is low because of the ACL. Plus I believe Danny when he said he's not going. Ainge doesn't say that often. Danny when asked about KG and Pierce. He couldn't say yes that he wouldn't trade them. Ainge will run his course with Rondo.I think Danny has a move left to keep Rondo happy this summer. It may not be Josh Smith, but another high profile player will be here someway.

Danny won't get value back. Plus Danny needs a guy like Rondo to sale tickets. Without a star the team will lose money.

I think there has to be a player, and a coach, and Danny MUST start including Rondo in the planning process. He has to begin to give Rondo that status that franchise players have, and honestly, most of them have too much of it because they don't seem to have enough ideas, but Rondo does.
