Celtics in need of play maker?

Posted by shawn cassidy on April 24, 2013 at 6:00 AM

The Celtics are better without Rondo. That lasted for about a second. I'm searching for answers after the Celtics lost control of another second half. I keep looking at the offense, although it's been the second half also. It's a combination of both offense, and defense in the second half, but I still believe the Celtics lack someone to lead at the point guard position.

Bradley is not capable of running a team, and Pierce is needed elsewhere. With the Celtics missing out on someone like Dooling. The Celtics currently have Terrance Williams who's been used for about  6 minutes in the past 96 minutes of play in this series. Doc has hands full with many problems right now, but not using a player who can help, is not the right way. The Celtics had 20 turnovers in game 1, and they did clean that up with just 11 turnovers in game 2. The Celtics only mustered 23 points in the second half, and only 14 assists in game 2.

Rondo's not coming back, and the Celtics can't go out there and sign a point guard. So what can they do? Bradley can't hack it as a point guard. His defense hasn't been world class either. The Celtics are in trouble, and unless Bradley learns over night, or if Doc looks elsewhere like Williams.Hell even Courtney Lee could be a better option. Bradley has gotten worse as the season moves along.  The Celtics are in deep trouble, and I feel it's the point guard issue. The defense has been good right? They held New York to 87 points in game two, and 85 in game one. The Knicks only shot 42% from the field as well. The defense has been fine, except for the third quarters.

I think it's almost time to waive the white flag, and I hate speaking this way, but the signs were pointing towards this when the Celtics fell apart in their final 20 games.

It's interesting what you say about the fact that bradley has gotten worse as the season moves along.
When Rondo is there, he draws a lot of attention even when he's not playing well.
Bradley may have benefitted the most of this situation.
Now, it looks like other teams find the right way to play us without Rondo.

Well, when you look at it though, all NYC did is hold serve.

I think doc should start either terry or crawford and have bradley match jr smith''s minutes off the bench. When bradley starts he's covering felton who uses picks almost every possession so no matter how good of a defender you are there's only so much you can do or he's covering prigioni who isn't an offensive threat. On top of that bradley really isn't a offensive threat so felton and prigioni really aren't being forced to play defense. I believe jordan crawford or terry would provide a little spark and then when bradley comes in we don't have to have terry or crawford on jr smith as much.

It's a good idea to have Bradley focus on covering Smith.

especially since he's not bringing anything offensively now that ny isn't letting him cut
