Celtics destroy KIngs in second quarter to pace the game

Posted by shawn cassidy on January 30, 2013 at 11:55 PM

The Celtics were outscored 67- 62 in the other three quarters. But the Celtics ramped up every aspect of the game in the second quarter. They outscored the Kings 37-14 in the second, and it was a total team effort. Green was stunning, and Terry found his stroke. The defensive intensity was there all game, but in the second quarter it was unmatched. The Celtics at one point went 13-of-13 from the field. The Celtics' first missed shot of the quarter didn't come until Avery Bradley couldn't finish a layup with 2:29 remaining in the second.

The Celtics put six players in double figures, and that's mainly because of the second quarter ball movement, and fast break basketball that we crave nightly, mainly Mr.Heinshohn. The offense didn't miss a beat without Rondo, but it was also against the Kings who allow the most points per game in the league. The Celtics had 22 assists Wednesday night with the two veterans, or the "Big Two" dished out 9 assists together with KG having  a team leading 5 assists.

The Celtics need to use the blue print from the second quarter, and I was pleased with this club tonight. I need to see this against a team that's over .500 before I fully buy into the Celtics without Rondo.

What's the deal with that. It's to bad, because they need Rondo when it matters in the playoffs.
