The talkin' box score: Boston Celtics - Toronto Raptors 97-99

Another close game, another loss.

One of the positive things that I can even in the game we've lost, is that we usually close the game strong. We almost had an amazing comeback in the first game against the knicks, and in every game we've been able to cut big leads from other teams.

And we've been able to do that without our leader on the field. I like that, a lot. Even if we're a young team, we're determined and ready to fight till the very end.

The surprise of the night to me was Brooks with his scoring outburst off the bench. Wallace has been our best scorer off the bench until now, but he didn't play tonight and Brooks stepped in the role in great fashion, with even an impressive 3for4 from the 3pt line. He's had some solid game, and I can see him and Wallace being very important.

What worries me a little bit, is that the numbers are telling me that the old Celtics core is not leading the way, instead, the best players have been young players or new players. I'm still expecting more from players like Green and Bradley. Especially while Rondo is out.

And I'm not going to talk about Bass who looks like he had a night off yesterday.

Speaking of rookie, yet another solid game from Faverani. I liked Faverani even before the first preseason game because he seemed to be a big team player, and I love guys like that. Moreover, I can't stress enough the importance of being a close team this year. Vitor is one of our biggest guys, we're gonna need him. The only player taller than him is Kelly. I absolutely love this guy. He fouled out again in yesterday game, but he had a really good game with 13 points and a team leading 9 rebounds. He's fouled out twice in the last two games, while he never did that before. I was wandering if that's because he's been more involved in the game. The NBA is a big jump, and he was probably a little shy at the beginning. Now maybe, he's gaining confidence and he's becoming a little more physical. If this is the case, he just have to learn where is the line ha cannot cross.

But I can't tell this just looking at the box score, so you will have to help me on this one guys!!

I honestly don't know what to say about Sully. He had a solid game, but I'm expecting so much out of him that I'm hardly satisfied by his numbers. The group of Sully, Kelly and Rondo is my favorite. I really hope they will develop a great chemistry because I'm sure they can show us great things together.

In absence of a point guard, the assist number is well distributed among Green, Crawford, Lee and Pressey. While yesterday I criticized Lee for shooting to much, it looks like he moved the ball a lot better against Toronto. Pressey had an horrible night on the shooting end going 0for7, but at least, I can tell he put the effort, with 4 rebounds and 5 assist. He plays probably the hardest position of the floor, and he's just a rookie. He will get better, especially with Rondo in his hear telling him what to do.

We will have some day off now, and we're going to need every minute of practice.

The first game of the season is getting closer and we've got to be ready. It will be hard at the beginning, but we've got the backbone to fight.

Victor has certainly impressed. I think he's played better then Bass, and even Humphries at times.I see Rondo's center with Victor. Alley-oop city.

Victor has been better then expected. I hope Stevens doesn't pull a Doc. I want this guy to see some time.

I can't take these damn two point losses. Thankfully this is just preseason action. But it reminds me of years past. At least this team doesn't blow big leads yet.
