Celtics Nightcap: Doc believes Pierce will have more life with the Nets

Posted by shawn cassidy on August 5, 2013 at 7:40 PM

I won't go on a rant about Doc, and what he has to say, because he leaves it open to take it many ways. So far, Doc has mainly focused on talking about only two players on his old team. He's talked about Rondo maybe twice. I don't recall anything much after his press conference, and he didn't even say much about it. I guess the only thing for Rondo to do, and for the Celtics is to focus on building, and on beating them when it matters.

From RealGM:

"I think in some ways, it may give him more life," Rivers said. "But I just think it's tough for him personally. Like he said in the press conference, he wanted to stay and wasn't allowed to, and that's tough for him."

"I think it will come together," Rivers said. "Listen, anything comes together when a lot of people want it to come together, and they have a lot of guys that want it to come together. Paul, Jason [Kidd] and Kevin want to win another title and everyone else wants to win their first. So if they all want to do that, then it all will work out."

As for Pierce, his role will be diminished with the Nets, and the same goes for KG, so will see what happens. I still think if everything goes right, and that means injuries, and chemistry go there way, then I think they should beat the Heat, but will see.

Pierce could have embraced a role behind Rondo here, but he just could not (though at least he tried, unlike Judas Shuttlesworth).

As for Doc? Shut up, Doc. Just shut up. Whatever you have to say, let's see it on the floor when the Celtics and the Clippers meet next season, pal. I look forward to Rondo making a definitive statement about who is the best pg.

It'll be like the famous game where Bird told Dr. J, with his play, "you're old school now buddy", and Dr. J said to Bird, by grabbing his throat "yeah, I guess I am now". I wonder if Chris Paul will grab Rondo's throat as Rondo thoroughly outplays him? Wear a throat guard, Rondo. You know what a whiner Chris Paul is.

I swear to God, if Rondo comes back healthy and strong, there are surely going to be some heaping helpings of sweet sweet sweet revenge next year.

I really hope Rondo takes it to Chris Paul. I really can't stand that baby.

Pierce should be more efficient with the nets. He'll have less defensive attention on him and we saw him play point forward last year so if teams do key in on him he has good shooters so it should prolong his career. Also as the years go on he can become more of a spot up shooter because the nets have a low post threat something we haven't really had since 08 in my eyes.
