I haven't been the biggest fan of Bradley. It's not because he hasn't been able to lead this team like Rondo, or for his ability not to be like Rondo. It's because fans ask,and expect way to much out of the 22 year-old Avery Bradley. They have built Bradley up to fall, and I think his team has done some of that as well. Bradley is an offensive liability, much like Terry can be a defensive liability at times. I wouldn't say Terry is that bad on the defensive end, but at his age but he's not the best.
Avery Bradley has gotten a lot of flack for his bad series in round 1 against the Knicks, and even his defense hasn't been Bradley like. This series was for Bradley was a wake up call, and a learning experience. I think Rondo, and Bradley need to spend sometime together over the summer. If this is our future back court they need to be on the same wave length. Bradley's offense has struggled because Rondo isn't here. All of Bradley's offensive weaknesses have been exploited. He's been missing easy layups a lot lately. He's over thinking everything and not playing his game. I'm not a fan of his corner three either. He needs to take a step in until he builds more arm strength.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers has admitted they are asking an immense and likely unfair amount from Bradley.
"It's a hard role for Avery," Rivers said. "We talk about [asking more from captain] Paul [Pierce], but we're asking Avery to pressure, pressure, pressure, and then try to do something that he's not [in running the offense]. Avery's a good basketball player, but we never wanted him to be in the position of facilitating offense, seeing that guys aren't set, trying to get guys in the right spots, delivering the pass on target. We're asking a lot, we understand that."
Bradley has shown us that he will never be a point guard in the NBA, he will always be an undersized two guard. Bradley struggles with the simple passes at times, and maybe that will go way, but for right now Bradley has the hardest time running the offense. For me win or lose this series. Bradley needs to build off of this series. This is a big moment in Bradley's career. He can take this lesson to heart, and he can come back even better.
