Where do I begin when trying to describe this season. We know what it's all about with the Celtics. We only count championships. This season isn't picture perfect, and sometimes things don't go the way they should, or the way we want. The reality of it all is less complex. It's not easy winning championships, and winning a title shouldn't be taken lightly. We're lucky we got banner 17, and at the same time the Celtics should have won another banner, or even three. Injuries have been this era's story. Along with one magical season with more heartbreak to follow instead of triumphs.
This team has battled, and shocked many through the years. This core of Rondo, Garnett, and Pierce have given everything in times of trouble, and when everything was lost. Right now the world is darker, and darker this season. Rondo was a bombshell to us all, and KG could be the final straw in a possible lost season. Title hopes had us all ready for something big. I feel fortunate for all of these great memories since 2007. I love the 2010 team that fell short in game seven to the Lakers. Last years team was special as well. Both seasons ended with the Celtics taking the champions to the limit. Injuries, and fighting gassed the Celtics both times. This year's story hasn't been written up and sent off to an editor, but the comments made by KG Saturday have me leaning towards the end of this season.
"I have some issues with my foot," Garnett said before practice. "More from like the motion if you were just pushing the gas pedal, and it's an issue. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be out. But I am getting better and I'm going to practice today. Doc and I are going to have a conversation to make some decisions for the future."
"I think everybody's dealing with their different ailments -- I'm no different from that," said Garnett. "Obviously as you get older things tend to linger a little longer. But I am getting stronger, I'm able to heal up other things that were nagging. But just my foot is an issue."
The Celtics may look at this season, and the future. With Rondo out, and with KG's injury. The Celtics may look at this season as a wash. They still have KG for two more seasons. If playing him with a bum foot is the option. I guess the question is how will this effect the rest of his career even if it's short. The comments are puzzling, and it really doesn't give us closure on his injury.
