Hawks want Pierce if Smith dealed to Celtics?

Marc Stein  @ESPNSteinLine Latest deadline rumble: Boston exploring its Josh Smith options. The prob: Can't do it w/out Pierce. Just can't see Ainge sending PP to ATL

Marc Stein  @ESPNSteinLine KG ain't waiving no-trade clause to go to ATL. So Celts would have to part with iconic PP to get J-Smoove. So can't happen w/out more teams

Adrian Wojnarowski  @WojYahooNBA Boston's active on several fronts, including discussions on Josh Smith. Brooklyn is solely focused on making a Smith deal.

Marc Stein  @ESPNSteinLine Hawks have convinced numerous teams that Josh Smith will be moved between now and Thursday 3 PM deadline. Question remains where exactly

I don't get why Atlanta would want Pierce? If your trading Smith why would you want Pierce who is on the way out in the NBA. Wouldn't a guy like Bass make a little more sense? Who of course isn't a Pierce type of player, but a young player to build with. With the signing of Terrance Williams today. Danny to me has intentions to stick with Pierce, and KG. The only deal that makes sense to me for Smith. Would be Lee, and Bass in a deal. I don't want to part ways with Green. But If I'm Danny Ferry I want Jeff Green.

I'd keep pierce and just try to get smith in the offseason. I also read we're trying to get a 3rd team involved to try to get atlanta the players they want.

Don't trade PP, even though I hate the guy. He's basically been happy as crap since Rondo went down. He and Rondo have never been able to optimize their games together, and that's on Pierce more than it's on Rondo.

Come on Paul. Both players are to blame.

I don't disagree with you, Henry. But it's more on Pierce, I say, because he's the older and supposedly smarter, more responsible, more mature player.

On the court I think he's smarter when it comes to scoring than rondo. Aside from that I don't think so Rondo's one of the smartest players in the nba if not the smartest.
