The Road warriors, a glimpse at the final 30 games

Posted by shawn cassidy on February 18, 2013 at 6:30 AM

The Celtics will hit the road for the rest of the month. They won't return until March 1st to take on the Warriors. The teams they'll play out west will test the Celtics. Every team out west seems to bring it every single night. The Celtics will get the hardest game out of the way. They'll face a Denver team looking for some payback after the triple-overtime loss at the garden. Denver has the best record out of the five  teams on the road trip. The following night the Celtics will face the Lakers for the final meeting of the season. The Lakers were blown out at the garden, and they may have renewed faith after the beak. I think they have a leg up in that game because the Celtics will have faced the Nuggets the night before.

So many trap games come up on  a road trip, and this trip will have some added drama with the trade deadline in the mix. This trip will be a test for the Rondo-less Celtics. This will road trip should have some playoff type intensity. I would love to go at least 3-2 on this trip. The Celtics haven't won in Denver since 2009, and they haven't won in LA since January 30th, 2011. The Suns have owned them at home as well in the past three meetings. The Jazz are 30-24, and a tough bunch. It a test for the Celtics. They beat Utah early in the season 98-93 in the Garden. The Celtics also beat the Blazers 97-78 at home on November 30th. The Celtics are 5-0 against all five teams this season. I don't think that means much since three of those games were a Celtics team with Rondo.

For the remainder of the season. The Celtics have 30 games to go. They'll play 18 of those games on the road with 12 home games remaining. Ouch for a team trying to gain ground in the East. This has been the worst road team in the KG era, and they currently have an 8-15 road record. Out of the 30 games. The Celtics will play 15 games against teams with records under .500 basketball. The Celtics also have 8 back-to-backs remaining on the schedule. I think the Celtics will finish up their last 30 games with a 19-11 record. That would give them a 47-35 record. That 19-11 doesn't sound like an amazing run, but for this team I think it is, and maybe it's more wins than so may think they'll have in their final 30 games, but I think they have enough games in the mix to get some momentum. The Celtics will also see Miami twice,  the Knicks twice, and the Pacers two more times. If the Celtics can split season series with the Knicks, and Heat , and Pacers that would be a great confidence booster.

If the injuries were hard to overcome. The schedule is pretty rough the rest of the way. The Celtics will look back at certain loses like the one point loss to Chicago on January 18th, and the loss to the Knicks by three at home on January 24th. The next 30 games will go fast, and as soon as the season started. Will be entering the playoffs.
