"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Rondo dislikes anyone with a different jersey on

Rondo is a gifted guy who doesn't shy away from his feelings, and when he's asked about something he will bluntly tell you how he feels. I can see why KG, and Rondo get along so well. I just don't love Rondo for his game, and triple-doubles,or his amazing highlight material. I dig Rondo for the simple fact that he gets it. He just like KG has an old NBA soul. They have what Bird had, and what Jordan had as well. They know this is a game, and they want to win, but they also want to excel and be the best at their jobs.

"That should be everyone’s mentality. We are competing -- there’s no friends on the court. Even if you were playing against a family member like your mother, you still go out there and try to beat her. It’s just a matter of competing. We love to win, I’m very competitive. Anything I do, I want to win. I don’t have time for friends. I don't talk to a lot of these guys in the offseason, so why I should talk to them on the court and try to be their friend?

"I’m playing for my teammates. I know I’m a great teammate -- if you’re not my teammate, I could care less about them."

Don't most fans want this? And most fans don't get this. The NBA sometimes has a summer cap fell to it. I've never been to a summer camp, but I get the idea of what it is. And from the outside it looks like that to me. Rondo, and KG speak to this. They both believe in it, and I think even Paul Pierce has some of it. Just think Pierce worked out with Kobe in the summer of 2007. Do you think that happened ever again after the 2008 season? Hell no!

The NBA is full of dogs with big barks, but Rondo, and KG seriously could give a crap about you when the ball goes up. Listen, do these guys really hate their opponents? Yes, and no. They dislike their opponents much like Pepsi hates Coke, and the list goes on, and on. I enjoy seeing Rondo being very pro team.

Rondo was asked if that's a trickle-down instinct from playing alongside the ultra-competitive Garnett.

"That’s been with me since Day 1. KG, obviously, you see it everyday with him," said Rondo. "A guy like that, a future Hall of Famer, guy that’s won every award in this game, goes out and competes the way he does, it’s just contagious. I think it’s good for our young guys, and some of the old. It’s funny, a lot of guys say they don’t like KG until they get on his team. It’s probably a true statement. He’s so competitive, he has no friends out there on court if you’re the opposite team. But when you’re his teammate, he’s the best teammate in the world."

I think someone from the outside would think it's just a game why would a person have no compassion towards others. First of all it's not like that, and second KG is a nice guy, much like Rondo. Their good with their teammates who are family members in a sense. They want to be the best at what they do. It's what they chose to do, and it's in their DNA to be this way. At the end of the day. I'm so glad their on my team. Instead of some soft player like Dwight Howard.

I really like this interview!! I love his fire
As you said, a lot of people want to see this desire to win but they don't understand them.
I like it when Rondo said that you have no friends on the court, that even if you play against your mother, you want to beat her.
That's so true to me!!

Smart players get it that KG and Rondo respect the game, and respect opposition players on a deeper level.

You know, Rondo intentionally harm-fouled a guy in 2008. I've never seen KG do it, and Rondo hasn't done it since that I know of. That shows that they respect their opponents. Compare that to LeThug.

I'll say this about Rondo, though. He can talk this talk, but I want to see him go out tonight and shut Jrue Holiday down. Don't talk the tough talk, Rondo, if you can't, or won't, back it up on the court. If you take Jrue Holiday out of the game tonight, we will win. So do it. Or shut it.

Big Game for Rondo tonight. I think were still waiting for that breakout game. Holiday has been a beast against Rondo, and the Celtics. Rondo is like no other point guard out there. He wants to beat the Chris Paul's of the world. Paul I feel wants to be liked, and everyone's friend.
