The waiting is the hardest part

As we few and privilege Celtics fans have to wait. The NBA world turns and we sit here having to wait. Patients is a virtue and nothing is a better example than this past trade deadline. DA saw what was out there and either he didn’t feel the value was there or that it would make this team less flexible in this coming offseason. No trade was made and I spent the night watching the sports channels for most of the night to make sure there wouldn’t be any surprises. Around 8pm that night I felt better.
As much as I and I am sure you pined for a BIG there was just none to be had. I felt with both JO’s and Wilcox(insurance covered) contracts would be great trade bait to a team in need of payroll relief. With how deep the draft was going to be I could even see DA offering either of their 2nd rounders’ to offer with said contract to “grease the wheels” of an interested team to trade. Maybe even including Dooling as a player that could you know play. Alas nothing, and a big fat nothing none the less(no I am not talking about Diaw).
After going through the scrap heap of bigs there are a few that could “help” this team. When I say “help” I mean could play 5-10 mins a game and get a rebound or two, but at least BLOCK OUT . These are all things that a big with any heart at all can do. I am glad Doc yelled at everyone about it and it looks like at least Bass was listening. Here are the short, short list of players that may be able to “help”
Ryan Hollins- young big. 7 footers don’t grow on trees. I list him 1st since his is the youngest without a recent injury. Put him in a green jersey and let him rotate with the other bigs, KG, Bass, Steamer and crap yeah that’s it. Since Doc has no intention of playing JJ or EM. Keep working Purdue Boys, it will pay off. I.e. Avery Bradley
Kyrylo Fesenko - again young big from Ukraine or some eastern bloc country. He has been in the NBA for 4 years and is currently available, but has been for some time so I guess Da has no interest.
Reggie Evans/Chris Kaman- Both with teams that have mentioned a buyout or trade in the past week. If they get buyout now either goes straight to the top of the list. As of 5pm 3/21/12 nothing has happened and will have to happen tonight for them to be eligible for the real season(playoffs). You can hold your breath I won’t.
Chris Johnson-Signed. Ronnie Turiaf -signed. JJ Hickson signed. The only other I have heard that I have interest in is the show. Leon Powe “the Show” has been playing in the PR with a professional team. He left that team last week with “NBA opportunities” . I have no idea how his knees are or if that 3rd micro fracture surgery has left him with no hops. All I know that for 5-10 min a game I would give him a shot. He knows the rotations on defense. He can box out, maybe not rebound any more but at least he can put a body on someone and prevent them from rebounding.
I am crazy but I really like this team and how it is constructed. With OKC losing to Utah and Miami losing to Milwaukee I have put less and less into this regular season. This compressed schedule is for the birds. It is effecting all teams. Some more than others but all teams are being beaten into a slimy pulp by the angel of Stern. All I am hoping for is a #4 seed and the Atlantic Conference Championship. I will take a healthy big 4 and a 8th seed if need be.
