Rondo trade talk, is it really true?

The source is a has been. He was a major NBA guy in the 90's on NBC, but who is this guy now? This rumor is about a month old. This is one of those deals that you, can't take serious. Gasol for Rondo? The only one that makes sense would be Williams, for Rondo. When I say that makes sense, I don't want a trade by any means, and I'm sure you all know that by now, but trading the future for a player in his 30's? With a horrible contract? If Danny deals Rondo for Gasol. I would want Danny to get his head check. I know Danny isn't shy about trading Rondo, so any rumor may have some truth to it.

If the Lakers indeed are interested in signing Rasheed Wallace — a logical step-down from flirting with Gilbert Arenas—it lends credence to the Rajon Rondo/Jermaine O’Neal-Pau Gasol swap I keep hearing. Lord knows they’re desperate for a point guard and Rondo is exceedingly obtainable and Kobe Bryant loves his "any means possible" style.

Folks have forgotten that another writer was reporting on this possibility back in November, as I recall. I don't remember who it was, and he didn't specifically mention LA, but he talked about very serious talks going on between the Celtics and a 'surprising' West Coast team - it sounded like he meant LAL. I still think Rondo will go to the Pacers, but admittedly, LAL seems more and more likely. I grant that this trade doesn't make sense, but this situation as a whole makes no sense. As far as I can see, few folks in basketball are thinking reasonably, apart from perhaps Presti.
