Brad Stevens got a taste of what it means to build a legacy in Boston. This was probably the loudest the Garden has been this season, and just the respect for KG and Pierce alone was electric. The saddest things in life are missed opportunities. As many wise people say, you never regret the times you say yes, but you regret the times you say no. Brad Stevens said yes when Danny Ainge asked him to coach the Celtics.

“The only thing I could say is what I said on the bench, and that is, 'This town gets it.'" Stevens said when asked about the fans' reactions to Pierce and Garnett returning to Boston. "You know, this town is special and you can see why.  And all the people that have gotten a chance to play here and that you talk to, whether they played here for a year or whether they played here for 15 years, all talk about how special it is. And you know that coming in, but you can feel it on nights like tonight.  And it was really a great tribute to both guys, obviously extremely well-deserved.  I wish we could’ve come out on top at the end, but we just didn’t quite have enough from a basketball standpoint to finish it.”

Stevens has shown that he has the ability to coach in the NBA, despite the Celtics record. They were once 12-14, and they looked poised for a nice to the playoffs, but when you lump in trades, injuries, and a few one point losses. Let's not forget this was without Rondo. Stevens has a certain makeup to carry on, and to win with this franchise. I hope this taste of love that he felt was the start of a fire in Stevens.
