The talkin' box score: Oklahoma City Thunder - Boston Celtics 101-83

Posted by Morena on January 25, 2014 at 7:35 AM

Record: 15-30

This isn’t for sure one of those losses I won’t get mad about. We were coming off a tough, important win in Washington, and I didn’t expect to win against the Thunder honestly. They really are a strong team, even with Westbrook out and Durant put to rest, they have a lot of really good players that can come through for the team. We’ve never been in control of the game: even in the first quarter during which we shot 73% from the field, we couldn’t stop them and pull away on the scoreboard, as Oklahoma shot 60% from the field, with 4 of 5 starters finishing in double figure. Then, in the second and third quarter we started once again to struggle scoring and that’s when they won the game.

The one thing that I can complain about in last night loss, is the rebounding, because I think we could have done a much better job rebounding the ball, but I’m pretty sure Sully’s injury sure hurt us in off the boards. Jared dislocated his right index in the first half and that probably held him back the whole night. Luckily, I read that finger dislocations are very painful, but not serious, so he won’t have to lose much time, or in the best scenario, he won’t have to lose time at all.

Green led the team in scoring last night with 16 points, but he did that on 7for17, and an ugly 1for8 from the three point line, and the scoring is everything he did last night, really. In a night where we needed some rebounding, he grabbed just a couple of boards. I know I sound like a broken record with this guy, but he keeps me driving insane. I’ve heard the Celtics might trade him, and honestly, I wouldn’t mind that: I had high expectation on him, and what disappoint me is not that he isn’t the all star player I hoped he was, but the fact that he’s not consistent at all. As we said many time with Rondo when he was so inconsistent: how can I rely on a guy when I don’t know if he’s gonna show up or not?! I prefer a player that may have less talent, but with consistency and willing to sacrifice himself.

Hump and Wallace both played a solid game; they didn’t attempt a lot of shot, but they made the best out of their chances. It’s true that Wallace turned the ball over 5 times, but he also had 3 steals. It was the first time in a while for him in the starting unit, and I think he held his own. I expect them both to grab more rebounds though.

Pressey continue to be a bright spot. He shined against Washington as a starter, and had a really good game last night coming off the bench. He keeps taking good care of the ball and he’s not afraid to take his chances. I really like this guy.

Off the bench I also liked the contribution of Bass and once again, Johnson. I still expect him to stay in Boston for more than 10 days like his first contract said; he keeps playing important minutes and giving us solid performances.

The next game will be a difficult one, with Pierce and KG back in town and Rondo on the field for the first time. I’m not sure who can have an emotional advantage in this situation, but I look forward to that game.

Let’s go guys, let’s keep fighting!!

Let's get back to tough games decided in the final minute. We will start winning games at some point.

Say Carmelo Anthony wanted to be our small forward instead of Jeff Green. What do you guys think about that? Brad turned Crawford into Steezus Christ for gods sake. What on Earth could he do with a ridiculous scorer like Melo? The guy just dropped 62 POINTS last night! Holy crap!

Steezus Christ! Lol! I would say yes. I think taking a risk on a player like Melo or Smith who has massive talent but hasn't harnessed it might be exactly the right direction.
