Quick thoughts on the trade

Danny Ainge isn't done with the trades, it's a matter of time when he strikes next. The core of this team is Rondo, Sully, Bradley, and hanging on is Green. Outside of those players, anyone's next on Danny's express. What do I think of the move? This makes sense, but doesn't for this year. Danny may want the Celtics losing games, but the guys on the floor do not want to lose games. Seeing Brooks go doesn't hurt or bother me. Crawford was hard to see go, was he the answer for the future? No he wasn't, but Ainge must have something else brewing by trading Crawford.

The draft picks are a gamble as well. They could either turn into gold, or into nothing.

via RealGM:

Philadelphia’s 1st round pick to Miami protected for selections 1-14 in 2014 or 1-14 in 2015; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Miami by 2015, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Miami [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012]

Philly needs to make the playoffs next season for the Celtics to get a good pick out of this basically. I don't see how Anthony fits into this club, unless Danny has a deal planned for Bass or Hump. This season wasn't about making the playoffs for many fans, and for the Celtics. Danny has decided to keep making moves. He's preparing this team for more cap space and picks. I trust Ainge, as long as he doesn't deal Rondo. I still think the Celtics may make the playoffs with Rondo returning in a matter of hours, or days.

Lastly, what if Ainge thought Crawford and Rondo may clash? Danny did deal for Crawford after Rondo's injury, and once Barbosa was gone for the year. Maybe Ainge believed in trading Crawford once Rondo was coming back.

I thought about that too, about Jordan and Rondo clashing. maybe this was the best move.. Not sold 100% on that.

I believe this was for the best. Bayless is a better option and wants to stay here badly. The man wants a home. Crawford was likely going to walk anyhow because his playtime was going to get cut drastically and we would have a Courtney Lee situation all over again.

I believe too that Crawford was not very happy to see him minutes being reduced drastically with Rondo return. Still it was maybe a little early to deal him now. We'll see..
