Rondo's return is near, I think the source is a legit source from Yahoo Sports! Stevens has denied the rumor, and he should. I think that's the goal for Rondo, and I still think it's a week after the Friday tilt against the Lakers. I still believe Rondo comes back against the Nets. I think it's good to leave a return date off of Rondo's return. No pressure for him is the best thing possible.
His return date has been a hot topic of discussion.
Yahoo Sports! reported that Rondo is targeting Boston's Jan. 17 matchup at home against the Los Angeles Lakers for his season debut.
"News to me" was how Celtics head coach Brad Stevens responded when told about the reported Jan. 17 target date.
"I have not heard that from him or from anybody who would have that information," Stevens said.
Stevens added, "we never talked about a specific date. I haven't heard from our organization that a date was targeted."
When he does return, most agree the Celtics will be a significantly better team.
"He's a great player. And he's certainly a difference maker," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson told reporters on Friday. "He has a body of work in this league. Coming back healthy and whole will certainly improve that basketball team. Obviously you can see them in the playoff hunt. If he plays like the Rondo we've come accustomed to seeing, (Boston) could be a dangerous team. We've seen him carry teams."
