Pierce notices "Celtic Pride" with this bunch

I still believe in some weird way, that Paul Piece will retire with the Boston Celtics. His contract is up after this year with the Nets, and perhaps KG is playing his last year in the NBA. Even if Paul signs with the Nets for one more year to play with KG for another season, if he decides to play another season. Paul will still be young enough to return for a season on a minimum deal following KG's contract being up with he Nets, and possible retirement looming soon after. Well that's a story that can wait. A story to talk about now is Pierce's thoughts on the current roster of the Boston Celtics.

CSNNE

Pierce had said that he didn't think it would be too emotional playing the C's in Brooklyn. He wasn't surprised by any emotions once he got on the court.

"Not really," he told CSNNE's Abby Chin. "I was just focused on trying to get back for my team after being injured for about a week and a half. Trying to get us back on the winning track. That was my whole focus today."

Pierce finished with 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in 22 minutes of playing time off the bench.

The Celtics trailed by 15 at one point in the 4th point, but came back to make it a five-point game late in the quarter. That wasn't a surprise to Pierce at all, who knows that wearing the Celtics jersey instills more will to win.

"I love those guys," he said. "They're going to continue to fight. That's that Celtics pride, and they all wear it with pride. You see it the way they play, the way they coached, you hear [Rajon] Rondo on the sideline coaching. They're going to continue to be the Celtics and they're going to always play with pride."

Deron Williams had a solid 25 point game in his return, but one would think that Paul misses having a pass first point guard, and a player that's going to get you the ball. Those days are over for Pierce, and now he's focusing on being the best role player possible. Pierce has pride, and maybe he's using the pride that he picked up while wearing the green and white. Paul gives the Celtics kudos for giving the Nets a true fight, in their Atlantic Division showdown Tuesday. The Celtics fought all night, and you can't blame effort for the loss in Brooklyn.
