The Celtics had every opportunity to win this one. They ended the third on a 15-4 run to take a 72-66 lead into the 4th. Before that Jeff Green answered the call. He put up 22 points tonight, which none of those came in the 4th. The Celtics couldn't clost the deal tonight. They improved on many fronts in Memphis. They had 6 fewer turnovers compared to the 23 they had against the Pistons. They closed the gap on the glass. Memphis only beat them by four 36-32.
Wallace left the game in the third, and maybe that hurt the Celtics. The Celtics had a balance attack tonight. Bradley only one turnover, and he scored a season high 14 points. Sullinger scored 16 off the bench to go along with 5 rebounds. Jordan Crawford also had a sold 12 point performance off the bench.
Jared Bayless killed the Celtics in the 4th quarter, he scored all of his 15 in the frame. I felt that Stevens coached a good game, but one thing that I wasn't a fan of was his use of Kelly Olynyk tonight. Maybe it was a teaching moment for Kelly from Stevens. But I thought Brad should have went with Humphries, or back with Bass earlier in the 4th. He was getting killed out there.
The Celtics will return home Wednesday for a quick tilt against the Jazz before hitting the road in Florida.
