Ainge sticking with Rondo, no trade talk

Many fans, and skeptics can't believe that Rondo is a building block for the future, or a franchise player, for now Ainge continues to stick by Rondo. This is what he had to say today about Rondo when asked if who he wouldn't trade.

Ainge On Toucher & Rich: Rondo A Building Block, Would Be Hard To Trade Him

"For sure Rondo," he said.

“The guy was a starter on the All Star team last year before he got hurt. That means he’s one of the top 10 players in the NBA. He’s still young and maturing all the time. He would be, by far, the most difficult piece to trade.”

So what about that Chris Paul trade that almost happened?

“Over the last few years our biggest weakness was scoring in the last six minutes of games. Even with Ray and Paul and KG we couldn’t get over the hump,” he said. “I thought Chris Paul could provide a lot of that. We thought his offense at the time was better than Rondo’s. We’re excited to still have Rajon, and sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.”

Ainge seems to get it, and I hope continues to. Rondo is a top player in the NBA, with great potential to be a top 5 player, like he's shown before. Why give that up?

If Rondo comes back healthy, and dials up his defense, and keeps improving in other areas, he's in the best player conversation, and if his shooting improves, well hell, he may put an end to that conversation for a while...

Ainge stuck with Pierce, he'll stick with Rondo. Danny is loyal to certain players, even though he traded Pierce. He's all for the Celtics competing. And Rondo keeps him there.

Ainge isn't known for being truthful I think.
