"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Jeff Green not mad at Doc

Posted by shawn cassidy on June 25, 2013 at 5:15 AM

Jeff Green didn't go through the wars like the Big Three have. Rondo only knows Doc Rivers as his coach, and Kevin knows only Doc as a coach with his time in green. Paul Pierce became close with Doc after a couple of rocky seasons with the great Celtic. This team has changed so much over the years that I don't think the guys will be angry. Of course they don't want to see him go, but he's gone, and they will move on like all of this.

ESPN BOSTON

Green said Monday that he has “absolutely no animosity” toward Rivers for wriggling out of his contract and signing an identical deal with the Clippers.

"I can’t speak for the other guys," said Green, “but I’m not angry at all. I’m happy for him. I’ve known him since I’ve been in college. I played with his son (Jeremiah).

“I appreciate the opportunity he gave me to come back to Boston after my (heart) surgery. I appreciate him putting the ball in my hands this season."

Rivers called Green on Monday morning to inform him of his coaching change. Green said he was disappointed, but added, “We should all know by now this is a business."

What business move was done? Doc is making the same money right? He didn't get a pay raise did he? This was a personal move for him. Unless they give him a pay increase this was all to benefit his chances at getting a second ring.

“The main reason I came back to Boston was because of Doc," Green admitted, “but I understand things change. Not everything goes as planned. We had injuries, and some other things, that altered our team.

“You can’t predict the future. I really enjoyed playing for Doc. We have a great relationship.

“I’m sure some people will feel betrayed, but we all have to do what is best for us, and our families.

“Whenever there’s a trade, or a coach leaves, there’s always emotion.

“But then, after a while, we all move on and say, ‘What’s next?' "

I'm looking forward to next era in Celtics history. Doc's a great coach, but there are good coaches out there looking to coach the Celtics.

If I was Rondo, I would feel betrayed by Doc.
And I'm a little worried about this because Rondo now need to:
1. Rehab for a torn ACL
2. Get to know a new coach and work with him, and we all know he's not a great people-person
3. Face all the haters that are out in full force right know for this "locker room fight" situation

At the same time, I can't wait to see who will be our next coach

@Morena, I think Rondo feels hurt, but he's been around long enough that he will move on,and he's probably happy to get some fresh coach in here who isn't on the side of just Pierce and KG. A new coach will likely be in Rondos corner.

These people are all such liars. A few months ago he said the reason he came back was Rondo. I'd rather have Josh Smith anyway to Jeff Green.

Is Doc a great coach? Sure. He'd better win a championship now that he's shoved and pushed his way to the pg he apparently always wanted. No ******* wonder Rondo could never really find himself. His ******* coach wanted him to be Chris Paul.

Can we please take the timing function off comments?

Everything depends on whom Danny picks for a coach now. I don't like the fact that Terry is in the picture as a coach. That would be a HORRIBLE way to go. If that happens, Rondo should demand a trade. I wouldn't mind seeing Terry, Lee, Green and The Little Saint all traded away, rather than trade Rondo. Let's really build this team around Rondo, not around a bunch of guys who will pay lip service to Rondo's leadership, then do their own thing.

A lot depends on Danny. He's got to hire the right coach and he's got to start treating Rondo as part of the picture, as a guy he consults with, a guy he is building the team around.

@Paul, I think Green meant what he said about Rondo too. I think it would be awesome to see Green and Smith together up front with the Celtics..

I don't think so, honestly. I think Green is another who says what he thinks the listener wants to hear. His play last year was, in my view, very selfish. He basically had to be ball dominant to succeed. He did show a lot of potential, yes, but is it potential that Rondo can unlock? I doubt it. I think Danny has to choose between those two guys and he should choose Rondo. I hope he does choose Rondo.

Is it terrible that i really couldn't care less how JG feels? Paul I also think that Green is just saying what he thinks people want to hear. He should be worried about what's going to strengthen his relationship with his team

I see Green's talent, but it kills me the way folks cater to this guy, while dissing Rondo. It's nuts!
