Free Agent Target: Jarrett Jack

Posted by shawn cassidy on May 17, 2013 at 5:30 AM

Jarrett Jack can kill two birds with one stone for the Celtics. They need a backup point guard, and with Jack they get that, plus a guy who can score or play like a shooting guard. To me Jack is like JR Smith from the Knicks but with more character, and with more to offer. Smith is one dimensional, and Jack can offer you more. Jack made $5,580,000 in 2012-13, and the question is how can they bring in Jack, and would he want to leave Golden State?

Jack has been the perfect guy off the bench in this years playoffs. The Celtics can perhaps workout a sign and trade if Jack wasnts to make the same amount next season. The Celtics could also use their mid-level exception. The Celtics needed scoring this season, and especially off the bench. The Celtics depth was a glaring weakness in this years playoffs. I wouldn't see the Warriors trading Jack. Unless he was hell bent on not returning to the Warriors, which he probably wants to return. The Warriors may not want to pay him. Their payroll will increase to 74 million in 2014, but they also have Jefferson, and Biedrins on player options.

I don't know if it's possible, but I think Jack would be big for the Celtics, and they need what he brings. He can play point, and he can play shooting guard. Plus has an actual guy who can score off the bench. Jack would be an upgrade over someone like Lee.

His market value is going to be higher after this season he might get 8-9 mill from another team and be offered to start. If we can get him around the 5-6 mil range i'd definetly take him he's a great player.

Jack would be a guy we haven't had in this era. Terry I thought had his skills, but Jack can play the point well, and espcially off the bench. He's the type of bench guy we thought Terry could be,and the type we wanted Ray Allen to be.

He would challenge Rondo, something Rondo may need.

He's not Posey, but a guy who can fill a role.
