Ainge On what the Celtics need to do to come back and win the series: "We've got to make shots. I mean, we've got to have contributions out of a lot of people. We can't do it with one or two guys like New York has done. We don't have that kind of scoring power, we don't have the leading scorer in the NBA on our team right now. So, we've got to get contributions out of a lot of people."
A team works together with everyone ready to perform a role or a task. The goal is to work as one. Though there may be times when a player takes the task on alone. Togetherness is the only way to win, despite a league full of superstars. The Knicks are powered by two players who are dynamic scorers. They've had help by guys like Kidd, and Martin. For a Celtics team without, you can fill in the blank on that. They need everyone to play as one. Like a basketball fairy tale.
The Celtics need to dig down deep. They need to search for something they found when they ran off 7 wins in a row after they lost, you can fill in the bank. Together they can fight this.Together they can win. There is only one way to win this series, just one way. Doing it together. No, KG can't anchor the defense by himself. No, Pierce can't carry the offensive load alone. Maybe home court will be the medicine that's needed to patch this up.
"The crowd always provides [energy], that’s why they call it a home-court advantage. They always provide you with energy. There’s no better crowd in the NBA than ours. There’s no better crowd in sports than this city. They are actually really invested. And that is the difference, and I’ve always said that. There’s a lot of crowds that, they’re winning now [and then] they come, and then you see all the hats, [and hear] all the mouths when you’re walking the city. But, Boston, when you’re winning or losing, you still hear the people talking trash. And that’s just the way they are, the way they’re built. And we expect them to be very much that tomorrow."
"The emotions are going to be high," Kevin Garnett said. "Obviously, we haven't been back home since all of the current events that happened, so I'm looking forward to going home, getting some of that home love. Boston, here we come."
This could be a confidence builder for the Celtics, and it could bring them together for one last push this season.
