Randolph and others looking to last game for more confidence

Randolph showcased his skills in a few games this year. He hasn't been a Celtic long this season, and maybe his recent struggles contribute because of that. With Randolph on the edge of playoff minutes. He may have one more game to show what he can do for the Celtics in the playoffs. I think part of Randolph's were out of his control. He's played only three minutes in the past two games, so some of it is playing time.

"Defense," said Rivers. "Defensively, he’s got to know our schemes and I just explained that to him."

"[His defense will] come back," said Rivers. "He’s had a couple bad games in a row, [but] it’s more he didn’t play a lot, No. 1. So he’ll be fine. Shav will rebound tomorrow, the next day, and the next day."

"He’s the aggressor. That’s what we need off the bench. He’s an instigator," said Rivers. "When he comes in the game, he’s a natural instigator. It’s not the fake instigator who tries to start stuff. He doesn’t do any of that. He plays so hard that he really gets under the skin of his opponents. And you like that. Forget that he’s our best rebounder too, but the fact that he’s able to do that in his natural play... I still say what Red [Auerbach] said all the time: As many instigators as you can get on your team, you want them. And he’s one of those. He does it in practice. In every practice, he gets under somebody’s skin because he outworks them, he out rebounds. He’s a great player to have on your team."

Asked before the Miami game if Randolph would be part of the playoff rotation, Rivers said, "Most likely. Obviously, you shorten your rotation, but I would say most likely."

"I'm very excited. Like I said, whether I get to play, whether I don't play, just to be part of it, to be part of playing with the Celtics in the playoffs and seeing what that's part of -- whether I play or not -- it's going to make me better," said Randolph.

Some other guys may see some time tonight. Terrance Williams is another guy on the edge of playoff time. He's played  well in my book when he's in. I would like to see more of him. I hate to say it, but I think Bradley should worry a bit about playing time. His offensive struggles shouldn't go unnoticed. I think my biggest issue with Bradley is his selfish offensive motives sometimes. He can take shots early in the shot clock, and it's been a big negative for the C's.

I think Bradley needs to play his game. Much like last year. His offense was off the ball with cuts, and off of fast break ball. His defense is vital for the Celtics, but it also has been an issue with over playing players. Doc will cut his rotation to about 8, maybe 9 games. He does it every year, but with KG and Paul older, and without Rondo. The Celtics may have no choice but to use more guys for longer minutes.

I hope they get some time tonight, and I hope they play well so Doc feels good about playing them.
