Wilcox playing better after nearly being traded

"The main thing is this team gave me a second chance at getting back into the league, so I wanted to come back here and prove my point, let them know that I appreciate everything they did for me so far," Wilcox said.

I loved watching Rondo, and Wilcox last season. Much like Shaq, and Rondo in the early part of the 2010-11 season. Wilcox filled that role of Shaq nicely for Rondo. Rajon could find Wilcox when you thought it wasn't even possible. Just like Shaq in 2010-11. Wilcox was lost for the season after getting the worst kind of news you can receive. Wilcox was done for the season with  an enlarged aorta. Since returning to the NBA, and Celtics. Wilcox hasn't geld well so far. He was hampered with a broken thumb, and he was out of for a month or so. Since returning after the thumb injury. Wilcox lost his best hope of getting back in the swing of things when Rondo went down for the season. Then perhaps the biggest scare for Wilcox was a near trade that almost sent him to Washington.

ESPN Boston

"They took a chance on me, bringing me back after the trade deadline, so I just wanted to come out and play hard," Wilcox said.

Over the four games since the deadline, Wilcox has responded by averaging 6.5 points on super-efficient 76.5 percent shooting along with 4.5 rebounds over 20 minutes per game. The Celtics -- 3-1 in that span -- are plus-28 with Wilcox on the floor in that stretch, and his impact is further reflected in solid numbers in both offensive (116.6) and defensive (95.4) ratings (points allowed per 100 possessions) when he's on the floor.

Wilcox seems more focused, and ready to give the Celtics much needed help up front. I like rebounding, and defensive effort out of WIlcox. The scoring is nice, but the defensive side of Wilcox comes first for me. The Celtics could have used him last year, and things could have been different last year if the Celtics had their full arsenal. Wilcox is on the road of redemption, and it couldn't come at a better time.

That would have been an awful deal if the Celtics let Wilcox go slump or not. He's a better player than Collins.
