I'm dusting off a dream. I've had it stored away for some time now. This season for the Boston Celtics feels like one big dream. Some may relate, and some may not. Have you ever went for a ride under one nights sleep? Maybe you start off with one of those dreams that rock your foundation. You wake up,and you do what you have to. Maybe you get up, and head for the bathroom, and maybe some hit the fridge. After you head back to bed. You hit the pillow, and fall into a deep sleep again. This time around the dream takes you someplace else. Maybe it's a fantasy, or maybe it's a memory of a lost loved one you've been dieing to see.You wake up for a minute because the wind was brushing the tree branch across your window. When you finally see the sheep crossing your dazing eyes. You find yourself stressing about what if's,and chances that got away.
This Celtics season shows us what could have been, and at the same time this season shows us what could be. This era of Celtics basketball has been unpredictable to say the least. Who could have imagined a title run in 2010, or even a run last year that had the C's one game away from the NBA finals. At times this season we've seen one of the best teams in the game, and at times the Celtics look like one of the worst teams in basketball. But after the win in Utah. I get what Doc says about the win, do you think what he says is the truth to you?
"Whatever that is, it was the best win, for me, of the year," admitted Rivers.
This game was like Rondo as a player this year. Great team play, but very disappointing at the same time.
"It's funny, at the start of the overtime I told Brandon [Bass], 'Go in for Kevin,' [but] Kevin wouldn't let me," Rivers told reporters. "He said, 'No, no, I'm good.' I didn't believe that, but I kept him in and he was terrific.
"Paul down the stretch just carried us. We found something we liked in the pick-and-roll with the spacing, and if they helped out, Kevin got the elbow shot. If they didn't help, Paul turned the corner. And then the [defensive] stops. I thought we junked the game up. You know I'm not a fan of that, but we did it. We went zone, we started trapping all around the floor. And I just thought our trap was so bad it was good. We didn't know what we were doing and they didn't know what we were doing, and I thought it created confusion and it worked. But I tell you, the trap that we were doing, we had no clue what we were doing. It literally caused confusion for both teams, and it was good for us."
KG you need to take your shots. I don't like hearing that so much, but if KG wasn't going to take shots. Pierce should be taking control, and he did. I was worried for a while that Pierce would play hero ball, and he did. But when Pierce plays hero ball. It can work, and sometimes it's damn annoying. Usually when the Celtics win when he plays hero ball. He does it in a way that he doesn't force the issue. It was natural. It wasn't Pierce taking bad jumpers at the end of a shot clock .
Nobody wants to see the Celtics in the playoffs, and this win was one of those reasons why. I wasn't thrilled that Doc didn't use more of the bench, but Doc knew this game was a must win. The new guys will have their time for the next two weeks. The Celtics play one game in the next week. If Pierce can get hot for an entire playoff series, and maybe deep in the playoffs. The Celtics perhaps could shock the world, and I think many fans believe the Celtics will break some hearts this year.
