The Good, the Bad,and the Ugly: Game 54 of the season against the Lakers

The Good

Jeff Green Continues to perform with consistency

In the loss to the Lakers we don't have much to go nuts about. Jeff Green had another solid 15 point performance. He was aggressive, and I felt like he was the one rock outside of Paul's 23 point first half. Green also had 7 rebounds, and that's a number I like from Green. Jeff continues to score around 15-20 a game, and it feels like he's giving the Celtics what they need, and I feel like he would have been big with Rondo right now. I think Green would have been apart of Rondo's dominance, but Green was working himself into game shape after missing the entire season. Green just found himself without Rondo, and I felt like Green had the effort, but his body, and conditioning wasn't there.

Lee brings the scoring, and some defense

Lee was the only Celtic scorer with a plus in the plus/minus stat. It wasn't much (Lee +1), but it was better than the rest. Lee also had 20 points, and he seemed to help keep the Celtics in the game. He made two 3's, and he was 9-of-16 from the field. Lee had the tough task of guarding Kobe, and he did well at times. Kobe made him look like a fool sometimes, but that happens to everybody.

The Bad

Pierce's up, and down game

Paul Pierce scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting, but after a scorching first half (season-high 23 points), the captain produced only three second-half points -- missing both shots he attempted. Pierce was a team-worst minus-17 overall in plus/minus for Boston. His first half was "good" worthy, but when you have the worst plus minus. I can't give you that. Pierce has been hurting the Celtics more than helping. Yes he helped the Celtics stay in the game, but the second half was another story.

What happened to Avery's defense?

Hyped for being one of the best defensive players in the game, but in the last two games. Bradley looks like a young player, and not as a great veteran defender. Nash, and Blake scored at will, or it seemed that way. Ty Lawson scored 26 on Avery  the night before. Let's not forget the two, or three missed layups by Avery. Awful, just awful. It's a bit unfair perhaps, but when he calls out teammates. The young guy should hold his words.

The Ugly

The Defense has gone away

First of all the Celtics gave up 113 points, and 64 first half points. The Lakers made 50% of their shots, and they hit 7 three's. The Lakers had 7 players score in double figures, and they only had 12 turnovers. Just a poor effort. The Celtics were late on rotations, and they over played others. Just no communication on defense. Chris Wilcox looks lost, and he hasn't been anything close to last seasons Wilcox who flourished under Rondo. The defense has regressed in the past two games, and the Celtics improve to 0-8 against West teams on the road.

The Lakers beat the Celtics

This is the worst thing of the night. They wanted to avenge their loss. They did what the Celtics did to them. The season series is split 1-1, and the Lakers wanted to win for Buss, who hated the Celtics.
