I hate the Lakers, and not in any small kind of way. It's like what Cedric Maxwell said about the Lakers.“There was a time, if I saw a Laker on fire and I was holding a glass of water, I’d drink the water,” said Maxwell. Through the years I had a dislike for Kobe. I have learned to respect Kobe, and he made it easier with his respect for Rondo.
"You don't want Rondo? Send him my way," Kobe declared. "I love everything about him. Everything. I love his attitude, I love his chippiness, his edge, his intellect, his know-it-allness. All of it. That's what makes championship players.
"What guard have you seen at his size that will get you 18 assists, 17 boards and 20 points all in one game? That's unheard of. I love that kid. I always make a point of talking to him during All-Star [Weekend]. He's one of my favorites."
I think Kobe understands Rondo. They both have a fire to win, and maybe Kobe gets that.
So who would Kobe rather be right now: a Laker or a Celtic?
"I'd take the Lakers, for sure," Kobe answered. "Honestly, I like where we are. I like the pieces we have. We're still a pretty big team. If we get our guys healthy, I think we can make a significant run at it.
"So I'll take my guys. And, even if I felt differently, I'm such a die-hard Lakers fan I'd never admit to wanting to be them," meaning the Celtics.
Is it good to be any team right now? I would have to disagree. With the Lakers out of the playoffs at this point, and time. Plus add on that Gasol may miss the last two months of the season, and Howard has been hurt. The Lakers are running on fumes.

I agree Morena. Its a genuine respect coming from Kobe. He was one of the guys who tweeted about Rajon. U know Kobe wished he had Rondo over Howard.
But right now? These Cs look like contenders. As much as I hate them, as much as I don't like how this all happened, how suddenly everyone is playing the way they should have played before, it's great that it's finally happening. They are a real Celtics team. I don't like them, but I recognize the achievement.
So I'd take the Cs now, easily.
Another part of it for Kobe, I think, is that he knows what it is like to have your teammates turn on you.
