Lakers News: Lakers lose in Howard debut

Posted by shawn cassidy on October 22, 2012 at 12:10 AM

Howard had a double-double in his debut with the Fakers. The Lakers played their starting five for  over 33 minutes tonight. The Lakers showed their top heavy lineup, and how little depth they have tonight. Howard had 5 turnovers in the post, and that's what you need to do. Howard's a poor passer. Just pressure him, and he passes to the other team. The Lakers may have the best starting unit on paper, but the lack of depth, and unique players that can do other things, like an Odom type they had a couple of years ago. The Lakers will need to rely heavily on some old legs.

Game Recap

Dwight Howard had 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots in his Lakers debut, but Los Angeles still dropped to 0-6 in the preseason when DeMarcus Cousins rallied the Sacramento Kings to a 99-92 victory on Sunday night. The Lakers finally unveiled their new franchise center after Howard sat out the first five preseason games while exercising caution with his surgically repaired back. The six-time All-Star played 33 minutes and made five turnovers, overcoming six months of game rust with energy from the opening tip.

Kobe Bryant scored 21 points as the Lakers' new starting five got its first game action together, playing down the stretch of a tight game against the Kings, who finished the game with 10 unanswered points.
