Celtics Beat Post New Entry

Recap: C's lose in ovetime 98-95 in preseason clash with the Knicks

Posted by shawn cassidy on October 14, 2012 at 12:30 AM

The Celtics allowed the second, and mainly third string guys finish off this preseason thriller. It was weird to me, but why did Kidd play 34 minutes, and why did he play the entire overtime? Oh well, if the Knicks burn him out, that's good for us.

The Celtics would have won this game if it was a real game. Rondo is still 100% from the foul line, and that seems more legit as every second ticks away. I'm thrilled to say the Celtics won the glass 42-37, even if it's preseason. What I didn't like tonight was the dunk fest by Chandler at times. The Celtics allowed 44 points in the paint.

Jared Sullinger was the star tonight for the Celtics with 14 points, and 7 rebounds, and Lee had his best performance so far with 11 points. Pierce, and Rondo played a modest 25 minutes, and KG played just 17 minutes. Bass started over Sullinger tonight, but Bass really wasn't apart of this game at times. He took only two field goal attempts in 19 minutes. I'm not liking what I see from Bass so far this preseason. Hopefully that changes soon.

The second unit became turnover happy, and the Celtics ended up with 19 in the 98-95 overtime loss. Rondo had zero turnovers off of 4 assists.

I'd say we won. We finished out the game with the rooks, and they had Kidd in there. Sullinger is struggling on D and with offensive fouls, but he looks more and more legit. Rondo seems to be having a tough time getting in sync with his many new 'weapons', and he's not focusing on D, I think. Struggle was expected early with so many new players, and with Ray, the focal point of our offense, gone.

In happier news, Ray Allen was 0-5 from three-land last night...
