Lakers News: Kobe still the top guy

"I got a question earlier about whose team this is," Bryant said Monday at the Lakers annual media day. "I don't want to get into the 'well, we share ... .'
"No, it's my team. But I want to make sure that Dwight, when I retire, this is going to be his. I want to teach him everything I possibly know so that when I step away, this organization will ride on as if I never left."
Could this be an issue this season for the Lakers? Publicly Pierce, and KG have made sure that all of us know that Rondo is the boss here. But in LA their big superstar Dwight Howard has been put in his place by the aging icon Kobe Bryant. Kobe is 34, and he's a top ten guy in the NBA, and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised by anything that Kobe pulls off this season. Kobe is often compared to Jordan as you all know. Jordan won his final title at the age of 35. But Kobe starting at age 18 in the NBA could be working against him. But honestly I believe it's not hurting Kobe, just like it's not hurting KG.
The Lakers have a lot of pressure this season. Their time is running out with this core because of Kobe's age, and Nash's. It's all or nothing this season. Don't forget that Dwight hasn't signed anything yet with LA, but ultimately you know he will. The Lakers are also being taxed heavily with all of the star power.

Look at the difference with Rondo. All these other superstars cry out to be set up with other Big Shots. Rondo? He went out and recruited Courtney Lee. To me, that's a difference between a guy who is about the game, and guys who are about glitz and the fame. They said "we want to thrill ESPN!" Rondo said "I want to build a team."
