This "in rondo we trust" movement we push here at titletown is a defiant statement in what we believe to be our franchise savior to our next coveted eighteenth NBA championship. Since, I've only been watching the league pass games year round for the past two seasons, I'm not too aware of the local Boston media. But, for the Rondo injury updates, I've watched some of the post game shows this year and have come across this Gary Tuagay character. As of late, he discussed with Boston Globe writer Bob Ryan about a trade between the kings that would send Rondo before we even get to see him. If the news wasn't bad enough, the consigning of the trade has really infuriated fans, stating that, "with Rondo, you're a five or six seed because he's not a scorer", with Ryan pointing out "he's not Chris Paul, even though he thinks he's the best point guard in the league."
Now I've reiterated how I think Rondo can seem aloof at times and to himself, but I think it's been all circumstancial. The team of old veterans wasn't one he could relate to and since last year, he's made it a point to be leader to the younger players on and off the court. Look, I like his antics with the media, I like how he be can be jerk to reporters and a bully on the court, it's refreshing. One thing I can't stand are subjective fans who don't like his "style" so they have to lie about his substance, his game. The man is on his way to the hall of fame, whether people like it or not, and he did all of that work as a Celtic.
Chances of a player coming along in trade or through the draft that could affect an NBA game the way he has is slim, real slim. No point guard can stay in front of him, no point guard can consistently score on him and none have played up to his level in the postseason (none have half his experience in the postseason). That doesn't make him just the best point guard but a TOP 5 PLAYER in the league, because he dominates when the stakes are at its highest, time and time again. This team is currently atop the division and showing signs of being overextended without Rondo with all their turnover woes, but when he returns soon, I expect us to make it a three team race for the conference, I bet Lebron and Paul George are standing on guard for us, we look good. God Bless
