Winitall, one would think Russell would be aware of that, wouldn't one? In fact, I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was Russell who first turned Red on to how great a player Cowens was, so how could it have slipped Russell's mind that Cowens too had the awkward experience of winning mvp but not making first team all-league?

I agree with you too about artistry and legends. To me the glory of basketball is that it remains the sport where individual creativity reigns supreme. The truly great players remain the ones who reinvent the game.
