This game was annoying in many ways. The final play with 10 seconds to go, was a throw your remote control through the TV moment. The Celtics didn't even take a shot, as Bradley tried to pass the ball when time expired, instead of taking the shot. I was a little upset with the choice of setting up Green for the final shot, which failed. This should have been Rondo's shot. He's the leader, star, and go-to guy. The Celtics lost 93-91, and this was a game that should have been a win. The Celtics shot a dismal 36% from the field, and the drought continues for this team.
Avery Bradley started out missing his first 5 shots, and things looked promising when he hit his next 4 jumpers. After that AB continued to struggle, he was 7-of-21 for 18 points. Rondo wasn't as explosive in this game, and I know he's getting back, but I wasn't thrilled with his performance. I do feel like he set his team up with great looks, but they missed their shots. Rondo looked like the hero for a moment, when the game was tied 87-87, Rondo came off a Green screen, and nailed a jumper to give the Celtics a two point lead with around a minute to go.
Rondo finished with 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in 21 minutes. Green was the guy the Celtics showcased tonight, he was good, but like I said that final play was one of the worst I've seen all season. Green finished with 22 points, scoring 13 points from the foul line. Green missed a key free throw that would have given the Celtics a 92-91 lead. On the miss, the refs made one of the worst calls of the season. The ball was clearly a jump ball at best, and as the players fumbled for the ball. The Magic called timeout, without the ball in their hands. How does that even happen?
This was more annoying then losing to the Lakers for some reason, the Magic are not a good team at all.
Some of the numbers.
- Magic out rebounds Boston 49-46.
- The Celtics took care of the ball again with 10 turnovers. Pressey's streak over, he had 3 on the night.
- The Magic shot 36 Free Throw's compared to Boston's 24.
- Hump was awesome with a 18 point 10 rebound game.
