Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Rondo almost played in the D-League Tuesday

I would have to say, it sure sounds like Rondo is very close to returning. I would slate January 26th as his return date. Why? It's the last game slated on ESPN for the Celtics, and it's against the Nets. I think that date sits well.

Boston Herald

“The initial decision, we were told, was that he would play (Tuesday),” Ainge told the Herald,
“but the (Celtics) had a great practice in Denver (on Monday) and I guess he wanted to stay with the team after that.”

Even though Rondo backed out of this try in the D-League. I still see him going through with his plan. I don't think much of him backing out. I think Danny gave a good reason as to why Rondo didn't go on with it.

It's my understanding that Rondo is playing the D-league option totally by ear. He told reporters basically that if he goes to the D-league it will be decision that is made on the fly. I think he will do it, so that he can play in a real game and not just a scrimmage, without it being a real real game. But either way, excitement is building. A lot of fans I think have learned about how absence makes the heart grow fond. We've missed his game.
