The Celtics return to practice, after mini break

Posted by shawn cassidy on December 27, 2013 at 1:55 AM

The Celtics took three days off after Sunday's loss in Indiana. They returned to the floor after Christmas looking to focus on the past three L's. Gerald Wallace talked about how rare the long break is during Christmas, and he also felt the C's checked out a bit early before their mini vacation.

I felt the Celtics needed a break. I know I needed a break from the action to enjoy the holidays, and to relax from work during the busy holiday season. The Celtics will close out the month at home, they'll face the Cavs this Saturday, and then the C's will get another two days off before the see the Hawks on New Year's Eve.

Some of the issues that have faced the Celtics during the three game skd? The Celtics started the games hot. They scored over 30 points against the Pistons and Wizards in the first quarter, taking huge leads into the second quarter.

"You get an overload, almost like a computer," said Boston's Jared Sullinger. "It was good to hit control-alt-delete for a little bit ..."

While Stevens immediately shot down any talk of the upcoming three-day break being a factor in the team's blowout loss at Indiana, veteran forward Gerald Wallace sensed an already tough game against the Pacers was going to be even more daunting because of the upcoming break in the Celtics' schedule.

"That's typical," Wallace said. "It's rare you get a break like that during Christmas. And we're a young team. I could see some of the guys looking forward to it. You only see that the game before All-Star (weekend); guys are kind of already looking and going on their break and everything. It's kind of typical.

Wallace added, "We put ourselves in a bind. We're on a three-game losing streak. We understand what we did in Indiana. The game could have been better with effort. We got a tough stretch coming up. We have to continue to get better everyday."

The Celtics shouldn't be ashamed about losing to the Pacers, but more on how they lost to the Pacers. The Celtics should have taken care of business at home against the Pistons and Wizards. Those are two games they wish they had back. It sounds like the Celtics will bounce back. The Celtics will have a chance to stop the losing streak this Saturday against a inconsistent Cavs team.
