Former CSNNE Analyst Donny Marshall making Rondo rumors up, no trade to Sacramento coming

Posted by shawn cassidy on December 18, 2013 at 12:10 AM

The best thing that CSN has done, was dropping Donny Marshall's sorry ass, and bringing in Celtics legend Dave Cowens. Donny Marshall thought he knew the game better then anyone, and his arrogance was annoying. For the past couple of years Marshall has spread his fair share of rumors about Rondo. Just because Donny Marshall works for the Nets network now, it doesn't mean he'll stop spreading rumors.

Rajon Rondo trade rumor

Marshall didn’t elaborate on the specifics and timing of the potential deal, but he did express great confidence that it is something that will get done.

“I’m just going to tell you, and I don’t like the word ‘sources,’ but from the people that I talk to, there is a huge deal in the mix,” Marshall said. “[Celtics president of basketball operations] Danny Ainge will say, ‘No, no, no.’ [The trade is ] for not just Rondo, but other players on this team, to a team out West, the Sacramento Kings.

“[Rondo] is likely a goner. The folks that I talk to, it’s pretty much a done deal — at some point.”

“It seems like they needed to be more mentally healthy, and it looks like that’s what they are right now,” Marshall said. “I don’t want to make it sound like Rondo is … by no means is he a Dwight Howard that’s going to screw things up just because it’s all about him, going to purposely screw the mechanism up of Doc [Rivers'] machine there. But sometimes when we’re young and have success early we can’t stay out of our own way, and I think Rondo kind of ran into that a little bit. He really is a great player, but there’s more than just being a great player when it comes to basketball.”

Donny Marshall claims a Rondo trade to the Kings is a "done deal."

A. Sherrod Blakely @SherrodbCSN

Spoke w/source moments ago who said the latest Rajon Rondo rumor that he will be traded to the Sacramento #Kings, is "not happening."

This guy is looking to make a name for himself, this isn't the first time that this guy says he knows what's going on with the Celtics, and he's been further from the truth.

I can't believe this guy is pretty much blaming Rondo for Doc leaving! Doc took the easy way out, and I think it was more him wanting more control (which the Clippers have him) than trying to get away from Rondo. People have said since Doc left, he deserves to leave, he did SO much. Color me confused, but this is the same man who said he was mentally prepared for the inevitable rebuild only to make a b line for the exit as soon as it was time for said rebuild. Doc is/was a great coach, but people also need to remember that Tibbs was more responsible for those brilliant defensive schemes than Doc. And the Celtics haven't played that kind of D since he left. I'm not saying Doc isn't a great coach, but lets call a spade a spade here, he's gotten and is getting way more credit than he deserves for a lot of things. It seemed like he was getting pretty lazy toward the end. Like I said in another novel length post, I think the past few seasons, Rondo grew in spite of Doc, not because of him. But, that's just one woman's opinion.
