Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Moving on from Doc Rivers

Maybe this was the closure that I needed. I didn't feel hate, or anger towards Doc once the game started Wednesday night. It's not the same feeling when I think of Ray Allen in south beach. Doc Rivers, and the Celtics hit a crossroads, and we had  two sides of the story, and to be honest I really don't care anymore. Doc wasn't the right coach for a rebuilding team, and for a young team like this. End of story.

There were many turning points for me Wednesday night. Maybe it was the TD Garden crowd that gave Doc a proper ovation a few times. Doc was visibly genuine when taking in the crowd that was sharing their love for the former head coach.

Maybe it was Doc after the game tearing up, and shedding a few tears for the city of Boston, and the time he spent with the Celtics. I'm over it now, and it was a wonderful night, but damn I wanted that win. I still feel like Rondo a bit when he said he wasn't going to cry over Doc. It was odd though, did anyone see the two hug, or speak before or after the game?

"It was just a really nice day. This is, it's just such a classy place here. It's an amazing fan base. It really is. I was basically useless for the first 18 minutes [of the game]. It doesn't surprise me. You've gotta live here to understand that. That's just the way they are."

Anyways, I've moved on from Doc, and I'm focused on the Celtics future, and the rest of this season. Doc spoke about missing out on two more rings because of the KG injury, and that's something that hurts me still. Doc still seemed very upset about that as well, and that was another moment in which I let go.

I agree Shawn. I have pleasant memories about Doc, but it's over.

He did seem pretty upset about KG's injury. The Celtics were the best team in the NBA in 09,at least we know in our hearts despite the trophy in LA.
