Paul Pierce has been dealing with a fractured bone in his hand, and the rookie Olynyk has been dealing with an ankle injury for the past couple of weeks.
Olynyk injury update.
"There might be a chance [to play versus Brooklyn]," said Olynyk. "It depends on how I feel, how [the ankle] reacts to this [workout], how the warm-up goes [before Tuesday's game]. It’s still a little bit tough to go 100 percent, max jump. We’ll see how it goes."
Olynyk said he doesn't have much problem with straight-line running, but it's jumping and cutting that are the concern at the moment.
"It's getting better, still al title bit of pain, a little bit of restrictions," said Olynyk. "But better than yesterday, better than the day before. Trending well, I guess you could say."
News on Pierce injury.
The injury occurred against Houston on Nov. 29.
"It was like the first quarter," Pierce said. "I was trying to get through a screen, got an elbow dead-center of my hand as I was going up. As I brought my hand up, the elbow came right on top of the hand in the first quarter."
He played another quarter afterwards.
"Then it just got too unbearable," he said.
While acknowledging that he still had some pain in the hand, Pierce added that "there's a good chance" of him facing his former team for the first time in a regular season matchup.
However, Pierce said he didn't get to work out the kinks with the injury in a manner that he would have liked to on Monday.
"It didn't really get tested like I like to get tested, where I get hit," he said. "But I thought I shot the ball really well, got up and down the court pretty good."
