The Nets made a mistake in signing Kidd

Posted by shawn cassidy on December 4, 2013 at 2:20 AM

I think Jason Kidd would make a good coach, but this job is to big for him in his rookie season as head coach of the Nets. Was Jason Kidd the most  qualified for the Nets job? I don't think so, and for a team that wants to win this year, and the window is this year pretty much, and I thinks it'sfiar to say that they made a mistake by brining in a rookie coach fresh off the NBA court.

The latest news doesn't help the Nets cause.

ESPN

Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has reassigned Lawrence Frank to a reduced role and Frank will no longer sit on the bench as Kidd's lead assistant coach.

Multiple league sources told ESPN.com that there was "friction" and a difference of philosophies between Kidd and Frank since the start of the season. Sources say the relationship soured after assistant coach Joe Prunty was chosen as interim coach instead of Frank when Kidd served a two-game suspension to start the season. Two sources say Frank appeared to be hurt by the decision.

The relationship was further frayed by a blowup between the two at the team facility after Kidd returned from the suspension, sources confirmed. That incident was first reported by Yahoo!.

Kidd This is the decision that I had to make and we made it and we move on. ... It's about basketball. That's it.

The Nets were dismantled again 111-87 by Denver Tuesday. With Paul Pierce out and Deron Williams in and out. The Nets are in trouble, and probably a bit worried. I stand by my thoughts that the Kidd signing was a mistake. They needed a coach who can lead so many egos, and Kidd doesn't know how to coach NBA players yet. He jumped so many steps that so many others have taken. Most start off as assistants or TV guys, but Kidd was given the job to easy.
