There is something different with Jeff Green these days. Green has had some big games this year, but for me the past five games is what I've been looking for all year from Green. Jeff scored a season high 31 points against the Cavs in one of the best wins of the young season for the Celtics. Green is finally playing aggressive on a nightly basis.
This is the Green that I hoped for all year, and it's what I expected from Green. I like the 13 free throw attempts from Green, and that's him at his best. The Celtics are 3-2 in this stretch, and that's the key.
But for head coach Brad Stevens, there have been a number of signs of late that leading up to Friday's performance, gave him the confidence that Green's game is trending towards more consistency.
"You can tell he's really locked in, really focused and really doing a good job," Stevens said. "His work in practice has been really good, you can tell it's kind of ... sometimes the regular season takes place and you get locked even more. Some guys might get tired, some guys might get more entrenched in it - he looks like he gets more entrenched in it."
Is Green ready to play like this every night? I hope so, the signs are there that Green is ready. Maybe the comments made by Ainge a few weeks ago has hit home for Green.
