"IN RONDO WE TRUST"

Celtics Blog Post New Entry

Ainge says Rondo is "our guy"

I believe that Ainge is speaking some truth to this. He's not always the most honest guy, but their are times when he gives hints, or he's being genuine. I think he believes that Rondo is his future. He brought in Stevens thinking Rondo and Stevens would gel, and you can see on the sideline every game. They have something special brewing. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid from Ainge, but sometimes you have to try to take Danny for his word on some things.

ESPN Boston

"Rondo is part of our future, we’ve been saying that since the time we made the big trade [with Brooklyn this summer],” Ainge said. “Players of his nature are very hard to acquire. When you see trade rumors out there for quarters on the dollar, you know that’s just a rumor, you don’t believe in that philosophy."

Asked if he's received any calls regarding Rondo's availability this season, Ainge added, "I’ve gotten one call for Rondo and it was a very short conversation. 'Not interested, he’s our guy.' That’s it."

Ainge later offered his weekly update on Rondo's rehab from ACL surgery.

"Rondo’s doing well," said Ainge. "I still don’t have a time[table for] when he’s coming back, but he’s making progress. [The team is] back in town today, he’s been working hard on the road, playing 1-on-1 and mixing it up, light things -- I don’t think he’s gone full speed yet for very long. That’s the next stage, it's 5-on-5, a whole practice, and then it’ll probably be a week, two weeks after he starts that."

I've said in the past that this injury usually has no time table. He'll be back before the year 2014.

I actually believe him too. Who can Danny seriously get?

Like I said in the other Rondo post. Ainge sounds real about this, and he's going to face this question until 2015.

It's really nice to hear Danny say something like this. I don't know why, but I belive him when he say he has no intention to trade Rondo.

I tend to be leaning toward believing Danny when he talks about being committed to Rondo. I mean he hung in to Rondo and refused to let him be packaged when he traded for KG & Ray Allen. Also in the past, when Danny has been putting up smoke screens about his intentions he's always sounded much more ambivalent about the player and the possible trade. Even just as recent as this summer with PP. Whenever he was asked it would be I don't know, or we haven't talked or we love Paul here, he'll always be a Celtic. This time with Rondo he is giving hard "no's" and there seems to be a little more umph behind this than the "oh we've gotten calls" of the past. This is one time that I genuinely believe the words coming out of a GM's mouth. Also, the fact that he's not explaining and going in to detail about this actually seems like a good sign to me. He's just flat out saying no not gonna happen period. Kinda like when you're a kid and your parent tells you you can't have or do something, and it's just like the answer is no because I said so. That's what Danny is sounding like to me right now.
