Bradley's not on point

It's hard picking on Bradley for the Celtics woes to start the season. He's not a point guard, and the results so far speak volumes. The Celtics currently sit at 28th in the NBA with 19.5 turnovers per game. The Celtics also rank 29th in the NBA with 14 dimes a game. So far that's around ten less than last year. The Celtics are without Rondo of course, but they also lost Paul Pierce who can pass the ball, and KG who is one of the best passing power forwards of all-time.

The Celtics 23 turnovers cost them the game. It's hard not to say that. Avery Bradley had 6 of the 23, and all of them came in the second half. Bradley is playing out of position, and it's a bit unfair to call him out. I will say this. Some of the turnovers that Bradley has executed look rookie like. Bradley has averaged almost 5 turnovers a game through three games.

What I'm concerned with is Bradley shooting 25 percent beyond 5 feet this season. He's not getting any better "so far" with his jumper, and with his offense overall.

Bradley's shot chart through the first three games.

I think it's also worth a thought, that Bradley lost his mother over the summer, and he's also a new father. I'll be honest, I think Bradley is only starting because his defense is that good, but how long can he gey by that way? Is he basically another Tony Allen? The Celtics and Danny Ainge didn't work out a contract extension with Avery at the deadline. Bradley has started out slow in a contract year, and maybe when Rondo returns AB will find his way. Until then, Bradley needs to take care of the basketball.
