Westbrook was supposed to be out for a couple of months, and it's a bit surprising that he's back so soon. Maybe it's a sign that Rondo is on his way.
Russell passed all required physicals and rehab benchmarks to be cleared to play by doctors and other team officials.
"The process has been instrumental in getting Russell to this point," Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement.
Russell had surgery in October to repair torn cartilage in his knee. He was originally expected to miss four to six weeks of the regular season.
