Kobe doesn't agree with ESPN's ranking of the Lakers

I love how ESPN predicts the Lakers to finish 12th in the West, but at the same time they have the third most televised games in 2013-14. I know why, the Lakers are in the second largest market in the country. They also have one of the most followed players in Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant might have a little motivation to make the Los Angeles Lakers a contender in the Western Conference.

After ESPN.com posted projections for the conference that had the Lakers finishing 12th, Bryant took notice.

"12th I see.." he tweeted Tuesday night.

The Lakers are reeling from a disappointing 2012-13 season. Saddled with Finals expectations after the additions of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, the Lakers battled injuries and never came together. They limped to a seventh seed in the West and were swept from the playoffs in the first round by the Spurs.

The Lakers are in the same boat as the Celtics. They both have no idea when their best player will return, and they have both lost core players. I think the best the Lakers could finish is 7th, much like the Celtics, but everything rides on Rondo and Bryant returning. If Rondo misses the first month or two, you can count on the Celtics missing the playoffs, but if he's back by opening night, I wouldn't be surprised if the Celtics make the playoffs, as I've stated before.

It would be nice to see both Rondo and Kobe return strong.

If Rondo misses the first month but comes back strong and ready to play, we could still make the playoffs I think. Most people here predicted the lakers to have a disappointing season last year and they'll want to bounce back, but as you said, a lot depends from Bryant.

This is like the first time ever that I am rooting for a Laker. But I do hope Kobe comes back as strong as ever. Kobe and Rondo. Two absolutely deadly warriors that bleed for their teams. Prove the stupid sports world wrong you guys!
