Celtics Legends Series: Mike and Tommy

Posted by shawn cassidy on August 8, 2013 at 5:15 AM

The combination of their names sounds perfect. Tommy has been around the Celtics since the 50's, and he's known to be the biggest homer. Tommy has good reasons, he won plenty of titles as a player, and he led the Celtics to two championships in the 70's as head coach. As for Mike Gorman, he's one of the most underrated basketball broadcasters out there. For the past 32 years Tommy, and Mike have entered our homes, and they have been  influential for a long time. A day will come when Tommy retires, and then Tommy. We've been blessed as fans.

Heinsohn talks with a lot of authority when he's just doing commentary, eg. after the game.

Gotta love Tommy! He is Mr. Celtic after spending his whole career with them in one form or another. I can't even imagine a Celtics' broadcast without him.

I think Ill be more sad when he leaves compared to a player like Pierce. It feels like we know the guy. He's a celtic.

It will be interesting to see if Pierce or KG ever rejoin the team in some form other than playing.
