I though this post was fitting with the recent hiring by the Celtics for Stevens coaching staff. Once upon a time the Celtics were in need of something more than just a 'Big 3' carrying the team to a title. Exactly one month after trading for KG. On August 30, 2007, Thibodeau was named associate head coach of the Celtics. Kevin Garnett changed the culture in Boston, but another factor that sometimes doesn't get enough press is coach Thibodeau's defensive schemes and approach.
I think Tom Thibodeau's presence was often overlooked during 2008. What assistant coach do you see barking out the defense on almost every single defensive play? He was intense and he's missed. Tom moved of course, and won coach of the year in his first season as Chicago Bulls coach. I would have loved him as Doc's replacement. Maybe Doc should have stepped away after the C's lost in 2010,so Tom could have taken over. Instead Doc was wishy washy every season until he was traded. Tom was deserving of the chance to coach the Bulls, and sometimes you can catch some Celtic fans cheering our old coach on.
