Today's the day that were supposed to feel sad, because were stuck in time thinking about everything from the past. Their smiles on that stage cut like knives, but obviously they should be happy. The Celtics wanted to head down a new road, and the trio of Pierce, KG, and Terry couldn't be apart of the rebuild. As much as it hurts to see this, and at the same time I'm trying to wrap my mind around all of this. I think it won't hit until I see Pierce, and Kevin playing along Joe Johnson and Deron Williams.
The gates now firmly closed and bolted shut on an era, with a rusty padlock and chain that would require a tetanus shot. The windows waiting to be boarded up shutting this era out forever. All we have now is the memory that was. Here are some quotes from the new members of the Brooklyn Nets.
Pierce: "Its tough when you've been in a situation like me for 15 years. I would have loved to end my career in Boston. But I'm excited."I think it's starting to sink in as we speak. I'm no longer a Boston Celtic, I'm a Brooklyn Net."
Garnett: "For Paul and I, this is like mirror images." comparing coming to Boston six years ago." It's unfortunate that we had to move on from Boston, but I think both sides are moving in different directions."
KG on waiving no-trade clause: "Obviously, having JET and Paul with me was important."
Pierce on Nets chances: "I think we're going to be right up there with the best of them."
